The&nbsp;187 gallon machine is used for post processing of 3D printed parts,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/how-medical-3d-printing-omegasonics-benefiting-from-ultrasonic-cleaning-121196\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">particularly for the medical industry,<\/a>&nbsp;and the new ratings mean that it meets safety measures set out by the CE (European distribution), CSA (Canada) and UL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>San Diego\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuvasive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">NuVasive<\/a>, a medical device company focusing on the development of spinal treatments, is expanding its HQ with an innovation center of excellence including \u201ca prototype design facility with 3D printing capabilities.\u201d The facility will add 100,000 square feet of space to the exiting site, amassing a total of approximately 250,000 square feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegasonics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/NuVasive_SanDiegoHQ_WEB.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.omegasonics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/NuVasive_SanDiegoHQ_WEB.jpg\" alt=\"Mock-up of NuVasive's expanded San Diego HQ. The C Anterior Cervical Cage adds to Stryker\u2019s existing catalog including&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/stryker-receives-fda-clearances-3d-printed-spinal-fusion-device-73635\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">a Tritanium PL Posterior Lumbar Cage that has been in use since 2016.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of California, Davis, has opened a Makerspace for biologists. Encouraging the adoption of 3D printing and other innovative technologies into study the center,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucdavis.edu\/news\/uc-davis-biomaker-space-unique-model-biotechnology-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">according to UC Davis Professor Marc Facciotti<\/a>, was created as \u201cfor students interested in hands-on exploration and creative expression in biotechnology, bioengineering and biodesign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Facciotti adds, \u201cWe aspire to be a hub for creative expression in biotechnology, a place to host new hands-on courses, a home for student clubs and design teams. We also want to be a nurturing environment for budding entrepreneurs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Designs of the future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>North Carolina startup&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuvotronics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Nuvotronics<\/a>&nbsp;has emerged as a contender in the 3D printed electronics market, with its patented PolyStrata process that has particular focus on boards that can produce 5G connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wraltechwire.com\/startup-profile-nuvotronics-advancing-circuit-boards-with-an-eye-on-5g-\/16957073\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">According to company CEO David Sherrer<\/a>, the process \u201cis a 3D additive technology that can be envisioned as a blend of semiconductor processing and 3D printing [\u2026] No other company in the world can achieve the miniaturization and performance metrics like Nuvotronics\u2014all because of its unique proprietary technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegasonics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/integrated-modules-hero-1024x376.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.omegasonics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/integrated-modules-hero-1024x376.png\" alt=\"Blueprint of the integrated modules on a Nuvotronics PCB. Now confirmed for completion in 2018, the bridge has made significant process since&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/sliced-3d-printing-digest-featuring-ces-2017-3d-printing-awards-skyrim-100584\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">the firm\u2019s last update in December 2016.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v2moJF8kqIg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the latest project from YouTubers Eclectical Engineering, the team has made an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Ug5OwnSt42s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">underwater Iron Man suit<\/a>&nbsp;using 3D printing to make the unique motor mount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Low energy lighting designer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/plumen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Plumen<\/a>&nbsp;has released the Ruche line of light shades, that are 3D printed from PLA and made-to-order in up to three different colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stellar progress of core materials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carpenter Technology Corporation, who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/carpenter-technology-begins-production-3d-printing-industry-first-titanium-powder-116505\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">recently increased investment in additive titanium powder production<\/a>, has announced that base prices for non-contract orders of stainless steels products will increase by 3% to 8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contributing to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/exclusive-preview-eos-p-500-polymer-3d-printer-120884\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">a commitment for modular design,<\/a>&nbsp;EOS has introduced the ICPM M Pro system for easier handling of metal powder with the M 290 metal additive manufacturing system. The semi-automated system is capable of extracted a complete build from the M 290\u2019s chamber, and sieving excess powder to be recycled for future builds.
